This scholarship is given in honor of all Fairview Young Farmers (FYF) past and present, a group which has a legacy of service to the community and towards the advancement of agriculture and conservation. The FYF, for nearly 50 years, has been in active service at the Defiance County Fair and the community as a whole to advance our youth in agriculture. The FYF has dedicated their existence to providing youth with opportunities to be connected to farm life through 4-H animal projects, library resources, Jr. Fair livestock auction, and scholarships. This post-secondary scholarship is meant to bring back into focus the vital necessity and passion for agriculture by encouraging college-bound students to consider a career in agriculture, skilled trades, conservation, natural resources or a related field. This award is supported by the Fairview Young Farmers through funds raised by service to the community. The Fairview Young Farmers (FYF) will award one $1,000 college scholarship to a resident/student of Defiance County. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at a two-year or four-year accredited college, university or technical school beginning in the fall of 2026, as a first- or second-year student. The scholarship will be payable directly to the college or university or make other arrangements.
